Original Founding Members:
Petar has been a lifetime martial artist, working on both “traditional” (Northern and Southern Shaolin, Tae Kwon Do, Kenpo, Tai Chi, Tao Tan Pai . . . ) and “functional” styles. Most of his attention has been on (in no particular order), Kali (a Filipino style, often referred to as Arnis or Escrima), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, western wrestling, boxing, Red Zone Prime and Red Zone Knife Defense (developed by Jerry Wetzel), Muay Thai, military and law enforcement combatives, all run through the “filter” of Jeet Kune Do (whatever that is). He is an instructor under Steve Grody (Dan Inosanto, Edgar Sulite), a licensed marriage and family therapist, and audio engineer.
Will has been a student of martial arts going on 27 years. After boxing in the U.S. Army, he went on to train at Alan Lee’s Kung Fu school in NYC, earning his 1st degree in 1998. In 1999, he moved to L.A. and initially trained at the Taoist Institute, earning another degree and helping to run classes in kung fu and Chinese Kempo, while studying the internal arts of Pakua (Bagua) and Yang Style Tai Chi. In 2004 he began training with Steve Grody – (Steve is an instructor under Dan Inosanto, JKD concepts; Edgar Sulite, FMA; and Share K. Lew, Chinese arts and Meditation), and is sanctioned as an instructor teaching open hand, single stick, and knife curriculum. Will was fortunate to be one of the original group of training partners to start Lab Rats Martial Arts in 2000 to continue work on pressure testing technique and concepts from the world of martial arts, hence, our motto and guiding premise, “Does it work?” Since it’s inception, Lab Rats membership and curriculum has grown to include BJJ, concepts from Jerry Wetzel’s Red Zone weapon and tool use/defense, weapons, and close quarters combat concepts from Craig Douglas, and others. Will currently lives in Salem, MA where he previously studied at Sityodtong Northshore, and currently studies BJJ under Danny Morera at North Shore BJJ. He can be reached anytime through Lab Rats. Come out and train!

Ken began training in Boxing and Tae Kwon Do in 1980 and over the past 35+ years has studied martial arts and traditional healing methods with expert teachers in the United States, Thailand, Japan, and South Africa.
In 1986 at the age of 16, he was fortunate enough to be accepted into a “backyard” Jun Fan/JKD class with Terence Akins (Tim Tackett, Ernie Franco) and later private sessions with Mike Girvan (Dan Inosanto, Tim Tackett, Paul Vunak, Chai Sirisute). After becoming certified to teach Jun Fan/JKD Concepts and Inosanto/Lacosta Kali, Ken went on to study traditional Southeast Asian martial arts such as Muay Thai, Krabi Krabong, and Silat. He is also a trainer of Crazy Monkey Defense, a modern Boxing/Muay Thai hybrid that is very effective.
Ken also spent many years studying Chinese martial arts at The Divine Tiger Foundation and The Taoist Institute. Most of that material has been thrown out at this point but Ken continues to practice and teach Taoist Internal arts like Yang style Tai Chi, Qigong, and Meditation. Ken believes that in addition to the proven health benefits of the “soft styles,” they also help to allow for the skills learned on the mat or in the cage to be powerful psychological tools for personal transformation in our lives off the mat.
