Here is the nerdy/simplest version. Primarily, Lab Rats Martial Arts is a training group/collective. We are a community of people from different martial disciplines that have been training together since 2000. Several of us are instructors/coaches (the latter preferred, if any titles at all), and several styles are represented; Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do (whatever that is), Kali/Escrima/Arnis (Filipino combative methods), boxing, Muay Thai, judo, western wrestling. Some of our folk do self-defense or martial arts related work – law enforcement, executive protection, bodyguard work, instruction, military, most are “civvies”. We train and/or teach (take a deep breath for nerdy, but simple) fighting at all ranges; “standup”, clinch, and ground, with and without tools (weapons), in uncontrolled environments/circumstances, with non-cooperative/resisting “opponents”.
